RAID 0 configuration also known as a striped array is where the data is striped or equally spread in sequence around each of the disks in the array. RAID 0 volumes are configured without any redundancy, so if any disk in the array fails then the entire array becomes inaccessible. RAID 0 is normally chosen when there is the need for fast read write access typically employed in a file server.
The risk of a RAID 0 disk failing is no more than a disk failing in any other RAID configuration. The only real problem is that there is no redundancy in a striped array. This means that when a RAID 0 disk fails you are left with data on the remaining disks but with a missing part that is lost in the failed disk.
